Rinse: Trauma-informed Yoga Ceremony for the Spring Equinox
The light has been slowly returning since the winter solstice, and today we arrive at the time of equal day and equal night. Phew!! You may feel your life force energy slowly building and returning.
Here in Nelson it has definitely been feeling like spring, and it has felt like such a relief! Wherever you are, I hope the relief and joy begins to seep in, even if in little moments.
Marking these seasonal shifts can support us in being attuned to nature’s cycles, and thus our own natural cycles. Spring is a time of transition and renewal — a waking up from our winter sleep, and thus a threshold where we can reflect on what we are leaving behind and what we move towards.
It’s important for us to remember that this is the very beginning of this transition, and there is no rush. You may imagine yourself as a bear waking up from her winter’s sleep, easing back in gently, taking stock… Here is a free practice from me to you! Recorded last spring.
It’s a gentle way for your body, mind and spirit to ease into this new season, it’s called RINSE. The practice is 90 minutes, weaving movement, breath, poetry journalling, and rest. I recommend having a yoga mat, pillows and blankets, a journal, and anything to remind you of the emerging springtime.
You may do this practice today on the equinox, or anytime throughout the springtime.
